Our History

From United Shoe Machinery to Texon Oz.

Texon Oz's roots trace back to the United Shoe Machinery Company of Boston, USA, established in Australia in 1899. From its early beginnings supplying Goodyear and McKay machinery, the business expanded rapidly across Australia and New Zealand, becoming a cornerstone of the region's footwear manufacturing industry.

This legacy of innovation, manufacturing, and industry leadership continues today through Texon Oz.

1899

United Shoe Machinery Company of Boston establishes operations in Australia, supplying Goodyear and McKay machinery.

1907

Establishment of Melbourne headquarters in Fitzroy.

1927

Construction of the Smith Street premises — a landmark of the Melbourne footwear industry.

1932

Expansion into manufacturing along Alexandra Parade, Fitzroy.

1930s–60s

Growth across Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, and New Zealand. Diversification during World War II to support defence production.

Today
